Job Description

The Statutory & Compliance Senior Accountant will work in partnership with APAC regional reporting and tax team to coordinate, support and manage the statutory audit and tax filing processes for APAC region. In addition, this individual will also be working closely with Philippines Financial, Planning & Analysis Senior Accountant to ensure that our organization is always in compliant with BIR and PEZA regulatory requirements. Furthermore, he/she will be responsible on handling Thailand entities, including month end close process and balance sheet reconciliations. To succeed with this role, the Statutory & Compliance Senior Accountant should show interest in following changes to tax regulations and laws and able to recommend tax strategies that comply with laws and promote our company’s financial well-being. This person will support the General Accounting (GA) Team in providing excellent services to the business and stakeholders such as Manila Business Services Leadership, In-Country, Tax and Regional Finance teams. This position is an integral part of Finance & Accounting of Manila Business Shared Services and will report directly to General Accounting Team Lead.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person is primarily responsible on statutory and compliance of in-scope legal entities across APAC region and ad-hoc services which includes the following but not limited to:

  • Prepare necessary paper works for tax payments and filing of tax obligations such as withholding tax (EWT), VAT/GST, FBT and Income tax for all APAC entities
  • Complete and ensure submission of Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) monthly, quarterly and yearly reports
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to tax on a monthly basis
  • Arrange intercompany analysis on a quarterly basis for tax filing purposes with Australian Government
  • Support regional tax team based in Hong Kong on all tax audit, compliance related to work for APAC region
  • Ensures audit requirements and samples for different types of audits (financial, tax & compliance) is completed on time with accurate information; liaise with external auditors
  • Coordinate with local functional teams (AP, AR, billing and GA teams) to obtain audit samples, review and send to Regional and In-country finance teams
  • Prepare and compile audit schedules such as Fixed Assets, Leases, Intercompany Schedules for APAC group
  • Will handle Thailand legal entities, including closing of accounting books and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Identify tax savings, process improvements and suggest ways to increase internal controls and cost savings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree , Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam), Finance/Accountancy/Banking or equivalent
  • Required skill(s): PEZA, Reconciliation, Tax, Audit, VAT
  • Asian language proficiency is a plus: Mandarin, Thai
  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position
  • With BIR and BOA accreditation is an advantage
  • Well informed on CREATE law and PEZA requirements
  • Wide experience in working with Shared Service Centre, Tax Authorities and External auditors
  • Applicants must be willing to work in Pasig City
