Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the provision of quality nursing services to the EWS employees for them to become physically, mentally ,socially and healthy and be productive.

The Occupational Health (OH) Nurse in the workplace shall be responsible in the adherence with the Standards prescribed by the Bureau of Nursing Health Services, Department of Health (OSHS Rule 1965.04 Duties of the OH Nurse)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • In the absence of a physician, to organize and administer a health service program integrating occupational safety, otherwise, these activities of the OH Nurse shall be in accordance with the physician
  • Provide nursing care to injured or ill workers
  • Participate in a health maintenance examination. If a physician is not available, to perform work activities which are within the scope of allowed by the nursing profession, and if more extensive examinations are needed, to refer the same to a physician
  • Participate in the maintenance of occupational health and safety by giving suggestions in the improvement of working environment affecting the health and well-being of the workers
  • Maintain a reporting and records system, and, if a physician is not available, prepare and submit an annual medical report, using form DOLE/BWC/HSD/0H-47, to be submitted to (EWS SHE), as required by this Standards (OSHS Rule 1965.04 Duties of Occupational Nurse) and to accomplish the Employees Compensation (EC) Logbook as required by DOLE DO 198-18.
  • Participate in accident / incident investigation (whenever told to do so in lieu of the occupational physician
  • In coordination with the Safety Officer, conduct review of the offices and station Health and Safety Manual for continuous improvement
  • Participate as internal auditor during the conduct of HS audits and periodic OSH inspections (optional, in lieu of the occupational physician)
  • Participate in the conduct of emergency drill and the post drill assessment
  • Directly reporting to the Safety & Health Specialist.
